Death and the Ploughman

A medieval meditation on death and love set in the 21st century, set amid a stunning cemetery

2014. Tobacco Factory Theatres. Arnos Vale Cemetery

Johannes von Saaz’s scintillating dialogue was penned the day after he lost his wife in childbirth. In this text he locks horns with Death in a journey through despair, laughter and love. Moving through woodland, design installation, song-scapes, and aided by a community chorus of the dead, this semi-promenade production took audiences through a fascinating journey into the landscape of Death.
